At the Interdisciplinary Center for Research and Development in Teacher Education (RITE) Center, our vision is to advance best practices in teacher education research and development. We believe in the power of collaboration and interdisciplinary approaches. By integrating expertise from various disciplines, both within and beyond Mason, we foster a vibrant community of practice.
Our goal is to provide faculty and student researchers with the necessary theoretical, methodological, and technical support. Through this support, we establish an innovative, open, and efficient research and training mechanism. We encourage solution-oriented exchanges that focus on improving teacher education and addressing the challenges faced by teachers.
To achieve our objectives, we undertake research and training initiatives that promote excellence in scholarship, creative work, and research outcomes. We strive to transcend traditional boundaries and have a wide-reaching impact on teacher education. Our interdisciplinary portfolio includes externally funded projects in special education, early childhood education, reading education, mathematics education, elementary education, and secondary education. These initiatives aim to attract, prepare, and retain profession-ready teachers.
We recognize the evolving landscape of teacher education, influenced by shifting political and practical trends in the United States. This presents an opportunity for the RITE Center’s interdisciplinary vision to shape public policy and contribute to the goal of ensuring that every child has effective teachers, while providing every teacher with the opportunity to excel.
Join us as we work towards a brighter future in teacher education!
